Dominika injured in Charleston 16th April 2008
Dominika had to pull out during her match in
Charleston with a lower back injury. Dominika was trailing 4-6
0-1 against Anastasia Rodionova of Russia when she pulled out.
Hopefully Dominika will be fit for Fed Cup which is next weekend.
Charleston News 14th April 2008 Dominika
will be playing the Family Circle Cup in Charleston this week and
she is the #15 seed and like last week will be playing Anastasia
Rodionova on Tuesday in the 1st round who she beat in straight sets.
The 1st seed Dominika can play is top seed Jelena Jankovic of Serbia
in the 3rd round. Dominika has played here once before losing
in the 1st round last year.
Dominika loses Amelia Island final 13th April 2008 Unfortunately
Dominika lost her 1st WTA final in Amelia Island to top seed Maria
Sharapova of Russia 6-7 3-6 but she had the tournament of her career
beating 3 seeded players and losing to the in-form player of the
year who has won 3 out of 4 tournaments. Dominika has shown
this week that her claycourt game has great potential in the years
to come.
Dominika into Amelia Island final! 12th April 2008 Dominika
is through to her 1st WTA final as she defeated Alize
Cornet of France 6-2 2-6 6-4 in Amelia Island.
In the final she will face #1 seed Maria Sharapova of Russia.
Dominika has never played the top seed before and has nothing to
lose tomorrow as she has had the tournament of her career so far.
The final will begin at 13.00 Eastern time.
Dominika keeps the momentum going
in Amelia Island 11th April 2008 Dominika has kept her good form going in
Amelia Island tonight as she defeated 2-time Grand Slam champion
Amelie Mauresmo of France 6-1 7-6 to reach the semis for the 1st
time in a tier 2 event.
In the semis to be played on Saturday, Dominika will play Alize
Cornet of France, they have never met in WTA competition.
Dominika scores a huge upset in Amelia Island 10th April 2008 Dominika
scored a big upset in Amelia Island today as she defeated #2
seed Anna Chakvetadze of Russia 6-2 3-6 6-1 to advance to her 3rd
quarter-final of 2008.
In the quarters to be played on Friday, Dominika is up against #11
seed Amelie Mauresmo of France, they have never played before.
Dominika defeats Azarenka in Amelia Island 9th April 2008
Dominika defeated #14 seed Victoria Azarenka
of Belarus 7-5 4-6 6-2 for the 1st time in WTA competition after 4
straight losses to advance to the 3rd round at Amelia Island.
In the 3rd round to be played on Thursday, Dominika will play #2
seed Anna Chakvetadze of Russia, they have never played before.
